Common questions
- There's no sound.
- Check the device isn't muted, turn up the volume, and make sure Built-in sound is on (Settings on iPad and iPhone, the bottom bar on Mac). Intensity (the orange bars) should be above the lowest level.
- How do I use Tonami with GarageBand?
- Tap GarageBand in Setup (iPad and iPhone) or the GarageBand button on Mac for a step-by-step guide. You can play GarageBand on your Mac live from Tonami, or export a MIDI file and open it in GarageBand.
- My iPad or iPhone won't connect to my Mac.
- Turn on Send MIDI to Mac in Tonami, allow local network access if asked, and keep both on the same Wi-Fi. With a cable, enable the device once in the Mac's Audio MIDI Setup (Window ▸ Show Audio Devices ▸ select the device ▸ Enable).
- Where are my recordings?
- On iPad and iPhone, in the Files app under On My iPad/iPhone ▸ Tonami. On Mac, wherever you saved the export (Music by default).
- How do I replay the tour?
- Settings ▸ Take the tour (iPad and iPhone), or Help ▸ Take the Tour (Mac).

Tonami is free. If it brings music into your day or your classroom, you can buy me a coffee on Ko-fi.
